Ester Braitberg

I was born 2 April 1928. My parents Moshe and Pesa Lewkowicz owned a carpet factory in Lodz. In 1939, my home number 43/45 Zgiserskia Street became the centre of the Lodz Ghetto. In August 1944 we were sent to Auschwitz and then Bremen. I was liberated on 19 April in       Bergen-Belsen. My older sister Eva, who escaped to Russia was the only survivor of my family. It wasn’t until l met my husband in Belgium that l found happiness again. Together we had two children, six grandchildren and now five great-grandchildren. Never forget
